COVID-19 Update

To our valued customers of Lighthouse Construction,

As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and all the changes and unknowns it brings, we want to thank you for doing your part to stay safe and know that Lighthouse Construction is diligently doing its part to maintain social distancing and sanitization efforts per the CDC guidelines.

With Governor Walz’s recent announcement of extending the “Stay at Home” Executive Order for Minnesota, we want to provide everyone with essential, accurate information regarding any impacts to Lighthouse Construction and what it means for our homes currently under construction.

As you may or may not know, the extended order (Minnesota Executive Order 20-35) is now in effect from April 13, 2020 at 11:59 pm and ends at 5:00 pm on May 13, 2020. Residential Construction and related businesses have been declared a Critical Sector. As such, Lighthouse Construction currently falls under the Minnesota Critical Businesses exempt list (Industry Code 2361) of which Lighthouse Construction can continue operating during this Executive Order.

Minnesota Critical Businesses List

Emergency Executive Order 20-35

Please be advised that Lighthouse Construction, Inc. and their subcontractors and vendors are exempt from the extended EMERGENCY EXECUTIVE ORDER 20-35 DIRECTING MINNESOTANS TO STAY AT HOME issued by Governor Walz on April 13, 2020 and in effect from April 13, 2020 through May 13, 2020.

The order explicitly designates Construction and Critical Trades as a Critical Sector, and therefore employees are permitted to travel to and from their residences to their designated places of work:

20-20(6)(x) Construction and critical trades. This category includes workers in the skilled trades such as electricians, plumbers, HVAC and elevator technicians, and other related construction of all kind. This category also includes exterminators, cleaning and janitorial staff for commercial and governmental properties, moving and relocation services, security staff, operating engineers, and all other service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintain the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of homes and residences and the Critical Sectors listed in this Executive Order.

Further, Residential Construction (Industry Code 2361) was listed on the Minnesota Critical Businesses List, as deemed by DEED (MN Employment and Economic Development), to be exempt from the Minnesota Stay-At-Home Executive Order 20-35.

We have heard these words hundreds, if not thousands of times already………”these are unprecedented times we are living.” We are confident we will get through this and it is by no accident that residential construction was recognized as a critical sector operation, our clients and our economy need us. We are assiduously working together as a team to meet this challenge.

Be well and stay healthy!
